Beltane

May 1st

Beltane, (BEL-teyn, -tin), also known as Bealtinne (Caledonii), Festival of Tana (Strega), Walpurgisnacht (Teutonic), Roodmas (ROOD-mass) and May Day, begins sundown on April 30st and continues to sundown May 1st. Astrologically speaking, Beltane begins when the Sun enters 15 degrees Taurus which is in fact closer to May 5th. Some traditions celebrate on this date, calling it "Old Beltane". Beltane marks the end of the planting season, and the beginning of pastoral summer. Beltane is celebrated by modern pagans as one of four fire festivals representing the waxing, light half of the Year.

The Sun reaches its peak, and we gather in sacred space to celebrate the light, awaken our power, and plant intentions in the fertile fire of Summer.

We gather to honor Litha, the ancient celebration of the Sun at its zenith. Rooted in Pagan and Druidic traditions, Litha marks a time of joy, abundance, and the sacred dance between fire and earth.

 

Come celebrate the longest day of the year with a Shamanic-Pagan-Druidic gathering to honor the turning of the Wheel!
- Ground yourself in Earth wisdom
- Receive a seasonal cleansing & blessing
- Align with the radiant power of the Sun
- Call in joy, strength, and the full bloom of your being

This ritual will include guided journeying, elemental honoring, and powerful intention setting charged with Summer Solstice energy.

- A small item for the altar (you’ll take it home afterward)
- Your water bottle

Suggested attire: Wear colors of summer and sun—gold, red, orange, yellow, white, or green—whatever reflects the fire in your spirit.

Let the Sun crown you with light. Let the Earth hold you in joy.

We highly recommend coming down a bit early to comfortably find parking. Ocean Beach is a busy little beach community, but there is ample parking. There is a paid lot by the CVS across Cable St. and lots of free street parking available.
